Why Brilliant Ideas at Night Feel Worse in the Morning The Midnight Genius  Last night I went to bed far too late. Not because of a film or pointless scrolling, but because I had an idea. A brilliant one, naturally. At least that’s what I thought. I was lying in the dark, building a story scene by scene. The dialogue was sharp. The humour subtle but clever. I could see the pacing, the details, even the ending. I actually laughed at one exchange. I seriously considered getting up at one in the morning to start writing. “Don’t lose this,” I told myself. “This is good.” Morning arrived.
