Do Evil People Really Exist? Or Are We Calling Something Else “Evil”? A few days ago I noticed a discussion on an internet forum about evil people. I no longer remember the exact question. Something about malicious people and how they affect others. And my first reaction was immediate. I thought: "What a strange word." Not because harmful people do not exist. They obviously do. Anyone who has lived long enough eventually encounters manipulation, emotional games, humiliation, revenge, aggression, selfishness, cruelty, or people who somehow leave psychological damage behind them like leaking oil from an old engine. But the word evil itself suddenly felt too simple. Almost suspiciously simple. Because once we label somebody “evil,” the mind stops examining what is actually happening underneath.
